Being the ambassador for the day I got to go to the behind the scenes press conference. I got to be up close and hear words of wisdom from some of my favorite ever singer/songwriters including: Sarah McLachlan, Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland), Colbie Caillat, Marie Digby, Erykah Badu. I also got to ask Sarah McLachlan a personal question about how she balances being a mommy and a singer/songwriter. She said she didn’t feel like she could give advice to anyone, but it’s definitely slows things down and it’s why there was 7 years between records. She was so kind and gracious to all of us!
The main theme from every artist was they all said “NEVER GIVE UP!” to “KEEP GOING!” Jennifer Nettles said that people in general are lazy and that you should persevere when others quit, and that alone will take you far.
The other main theme was that this was all about Community, and almost like a tribe. That we should all support eachother because we can’t do this alone!
Both of those themes really touched home and are what I needed to hear. I was so touched and inspired the whole day.
